“It’s a growing fashion we have a lot of people moved in here from other states and they are interested in Ag,” Garrett said. “And there will be a lot of them at this event that are, have never been around agriculture at all and they are wanting to learn and they use our local extension offices as the first place to go and you know the first place to go seeking information on how to successfully you know do agriculture practices.”

Topics range from crop preservation to how to handle animal who is experiencing dystocia which is when an animal has difficulty giving calf birth. The event will be hosted at Bilbrey’s Crossing in Rickman.

Garrett said Thursday’s conference represents a chance for the county extension agents across the region to work together.

“We all have our individual county duties and programs we have but during the year we will probably have four or five,” Garrett said. “We always do a sheep and goat class, we have a beef summit every fall in Cookeville and you know whatever else we can come out with.”

This marks the third year in a row that the Upper Cumberland Extension Team will host the summit.

“I think this year will, was probably gonna be the biggest one yet I think that we have registered probably around a hundred and seventy interested female agriculturist,” Garrett said. “We are looking for a pretty good crowd, and its going to be a great day, looking forward to it.”
