The strike between the United Auto Workers and Cummins Filtration in Cookeville has come to an end after a six-week stand off.
A statement from Cummins said a new contract was ratified on Saturday and workers went back to work on Sunday.
“We are pleased to reach an agreement with the Union that is in the best interest of the employees and our company,” the statement said. “We appreciate the continued contributions of our employees to the success of our company.”
The strike began on March 8 after eight weeks of talks and two failed ratification votes.
At the time, UAW Local 1407 President Mark Dyer said that Cummins attempted to force workers to accept unfair labor practices without going into detail about their demands.
Attempts to reach Dyer for comment were unsuccessful.
