TWRA officials hope visitors to Jackson County’s Boils Wildlife Management Area can help catch some vandals.
TWRA spokesman Mime Barnes said there’s been damage to signs, parking lots, littering, theft and even destruction of wildlife habitats in the area. And that damage has been done three years in a row.
“We see it as robbing from our hunters and anglers, it’s really taking their license dollars from us, where we could do good work we end up dealing with vandalism on the WMA,” Barnes said.
The TWRA doesn’t receive state funding, Barnes said. Instead, they’re funded through hunting and fishing license sales.
“But we have so many more eyes out there, we recognize this is a beautiful area, and the majority of the people enjoying this area are not vandalizing this area, they love it like we do so we want them to be our eyes, if they’re out there and they see something, just give us a call,” Barnes said.
