Two Sewage Projects for Baxter

Baxter is preparing for two major sewer projects at the new Highway 70 subdivision and Portobello production facility.

Baxter Mayor John Martin said work is starting on the complete engineering report for Portobello, as well as excavating the subdivision project. Martin said he met with the engineers this week to discuss Portobello.

“We had a meeting yesterday and we talked about that,” Martin said. “It takes a while to do all the engineering report, it could be four or five months before all of that’s completed.”

Martin said the city still needs to begin bidding on the Portobello project. For the scope of the subdivision project, Martin said line will be laid out for 88 homes.

Martin said it is still too early to give a time frame on when the sewage projects will be completed.
