Two Injured In Dixie Avenue Fire

A firefighter and a resident sustained minor injuries in a fire on Cookeville’s Dixie Avenue Tuesday night.

Cookeville Fire Chief Roger Fuqua said the resident sustained minor burns and a firefighter was taken to the hospital with an ankle injury. He was treated and released.

Firefighters were called to the scene at 10:38 p.m.

“Evidently it was a stove left on, the guy, I reckon, fell asleep, they didn’t have any smoke detectors. He was burned some but he didn’t want to go to the hospital,” Fuqua said.

He said the home was 60 percent involved when firefighters arrived on scene. Fuqua said he believes the home was a total loss.
