Two Injured In 3-Car Pileup Following Eclipse

Two people were injured Monday in a three-car accident following the eclipse.

The THP said all three vehicles were traveling east on I-40 at 3:08 p.m. Traffic was moving slowly.

46-year-old Aubrey Murphy of Monterey was cited for driving on a suspended license, following too closely and financial responsibility.

Murphy, and a passenger in one of the cars he hit, were both transported by ground to Cookeville Regional Hospital.

Murphy’s 2008 Nissan Altima rear-ended a 2016 Dodge Journey driven by 54-year-old Alexander Vostrov of Stonybrook, N.Y. After that, Murphy’s car rolled backwards, hitting a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta driven by 33-year-old Jacob Heyn of St. Joseph, Mich.

At some point, Murphy’s Altima caught fire.
