Two of the eight men arrested for attempting to have sex with minors are Upper Cumberland athletes.
Cookeville High School Principal Cliff Matlock confirmed that 19-year-old Nathaniel Stalnaker is a senior at the school and set to graduate Saturday.
Stalnaker also participates on the Cavaliers track and field team. He’s slated to compete in next week’s track and field championships in Murfreesboro in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes.
Tennessee Tech News and Communications Director Buddy Pearson confirmed that 18-year-old Matthew Kenty is an active student at Tennessee Tech.
Kenty just completed his season as a freshman defensive end for the football team. Kenty saw action in two games this past football season.
TTU Sports Information Director Mike Lehman would not comment on the matter, but said any statement would come from the university’s office of communications and marketing.
TTU Chief Communications Officer Karen Lykins stated in an email that Tennessee Tech’s student disciplinary policy can be applied to some off-campus conduct if the criteria listed in the policy are met. Tennessee Tech, cannot, however, comment on the application of the student disciplinary policy to a specific student.
