Two area libraries recently received technology grants from the state.
The state Library and Archives awards the grants. Gainesboro’s Charles Ralph Holland Memorial Library and the White County Public Library each received just over $8,000.
In Gainesboro, Library Director Kate Chalman said the money went to buying new computers.
“We used our tech grant to buy and upgrade our six-year-old desktop computers for public use, and our staff computers. So seven new desktops were purchased,” she said.
Chalman said some 220 people come to the library each month to use the computers.
