The TVA estimates Tennesseans will use more power this week than they have since the summer of 2012.
With temperatures hovering around 95, the TVA believes power demand will be the highest it’s ever been.
A written statement from the TVA estimates power usage to be about 18 percent higher than the usual summer demand.
There’s still plenty of electricity to go around, but the TVA has some recommendations to keep bills low. That includes conserving power from 2-8 p.m., the hottest part of the day.
Running ceiling fans, keeping doors closed, plan cooking ahead and using shades to block out sunlight are also recommended.
