The Tennessee Valley Authority is offering virtual home assessments in place of sending a technician to your home.
Sparta Utility Manager Belva Bess said this is a safer option for households.
“If you have a smartphone you can show them,” Bess said. “They would show you and tell you what they need to look at. You would point your camera toward the item, say whether it’s your insulation, the caulk around your windows, you know what type of windows, what type of A/C unit you have, that type thing. They would give you measures that you could do to reduce your energy bill.”
Bess said any local TVA office can offer this service. This virtual option is open to any TVA customer including homeowners, landlords, and tenants.
Public Works Director Dillard Quick informed the Sparta City Board about TVA’s online alternative during the September meeting.
