Work will begin next week to transform the track inside TTU’s Tucker Stadium.
Tech Athletic Officials closed Tucker Stadium to the public this week to begin renovations. This includes the bleachers, field and track.
“The contractors will be arriving on campus and doing the work to resurface the track,” Athletics Director Mark Wilson said.
Tennessee Tech will host the 2018 OVC Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 11-12. The first round of work will be completed for that event, hopefully, Wilson said by late April.
Following the OVC Championships, construction will begin on a south endzone video board for Tucker Stadium.
“(It) will significantly enhance the fan experience for people attending Tennessee Tech football games along with those high school teams and fans who come to experience the Blue Cross Bowl,” Wilson said.
Tech students and faculty along with many seniors who use Tucker Stadium’s track for exercise will need to find new grounds for the next five months.
“The track will remain closed until both of those projects are done,” Wilson said. “Our aim is to have both of them done by mid July.”
