TTU Students Nationally Ranked In Cybersecurity Competition

Tennessee Tech cybersecurity students rank among the nation’s best following the 2019 Governors’ Cybersecurity Talent Competition.

TTU released a statement saying students ranked 21st nationally in Cyber FastTrack, where participants test their skills in identifying and neutralizing potential cyber threats.

19 of Tennessee Tech’s 47 total participants qualified for the competition’s quarterfinal round. Only Austin Peay State University, in Clarksville, had more participants advance among Tennessee institutions.

Over 13,000 students and nearly 1,300 schools participated in the competition when the program started in April. The ultimate grand prize is $2.5 million in scholarships plus direct introductions to employers for internship and employment opportunities.

The Governors’ Cybersecurity Talent Competiton was formed by 25 state governors across the nation along with the SANS Institute. The Cyber FastTrack program aims to close the United States’ cybersecurity gap by enhancing the skills of students entering the field.
