TTU Secured $32.4M In Research Funding, Highest Amount To Date

Tennessee Tech has secured some $32.4 million to put toward sponsored research projects, a record high.

President Phil Oldham said that is approximately 40 percent higher than at this time last year. He said that this achievement was made possible through the tremendous work of faculty investigators involved in seeking out these funds.

“Those that publish their work or present it in peer-reviewed settings speaks to the quality of the work,” Oldham said. “But in my mind, there is probably nothing more tangible in terms of recognition than somebody saying ‘Hey I like what you do enough to give you a lot of money.'”

Oldham said a University goal has been to get to $40 million in secured research funds. He said that looks more attainable today than when they originally started the work.

Oldham said he thanks all those who have helped in making this possible, including the faculty in the research office. He called the journey, “a great story.”

“$32.5 million,” Oldham said. “I think that really speaks volumes.”
