Putnam County students have the chance to be first in line for admission at Tennessee Tech this year.
Putnam Early Application Day will begin Wednesday. Tech officials will give students two weeks to apply before regular applications begin. Tennessee Tech Director of Admissions Steve Keller said the university made the event to show its gratitude towards the Putnam community.
“We want them to know how grateful we are to be Putnam County residents here at Tech,” Keller said. “We want them to know how important Putnam County students are to Tech, and we want them to have a chance to be the first people in the whole world to apply.”
Keller said students can apply by visiting tntech.edu/Putnamfirst. Every high school student in Putnam County is eligible for early application including home school students. Admission counselors will be available via zoom to answer any questions regarding the application process.
“Some of the advantages about being able to apply before anybody else in the world really include being able to complete this application and get accepted before the students enters his or her senior year in high school,” Keller said.
The application will go live at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Keller said historically Putnam County provides Tech with some of its best students.
“Tennessee Tech loves every Putnam County student who enrolls at the university,” Keller said. “Their strength, their familiarity with campus and their family support in the area make them stronger students.”
