TTU Launches 5th Annual I Heart Tech Students Fundraiser Initiative

Tennessee Tech’s I Heart Tech Students fundraising initiative returning for its fifth year.

Alumni Center Assistant Director Kelly Chambers said the initiative was originally started in 2019.

“We have so many programs that simply would not exist without our donors,” Chambers said. “The very first I Heart Tech Students initiative in 2019 started what we call the Eagles Assistance Grant which is an emergency grant for students. That grant would not exist without donors. And it has kept dozens of students enrolled who otherwise would have had to drop out due to unforeseen circumstances.”

Chambers said the program has 15 to 20 causes that could benefit from private support ranging from scholarships and emergency grants to student travel funds. She said each college is represented and has a fund to donate to.

Chambers said any and every gift can help. She said if you visit 1915.tn.tech.edu, you can see all of the causes and decide which speaks to you the most.

“Even $5, $10 can make a difference in these programs,” Chambers said. “So we always say give money if you can, and if you can’t it is really helpful to just spread the word. If you go to the website there is a social media toolkit on there. So even just highlighting that on your social media. That is huge advertising for us, that gets the word out for us that we might not be able to reach. If now is not the right time to donate money, we totally understand, but even just getting the word out on social media is huge.”
