TTU Holds Virtual Constitution Day Event

Thursday’s Constitution Day, and Tennessee Tech is celebrating virtually at 6:00 PM.

People can register to participate in the Zoom event by searching Constitution Day on TTU’s website. Constitution Day Chair Kent Dollar said the signing of the constitution should be celebrated even if it isn’t mandated.

“The constitution is perhaps the most important document, I would say it is the most important document,” Dollar said. “Its signing is one of the most significant acts in American history.”

Another significant act, is celebrated this year with the centennial of the 19th amendment. Which is the theme of Tennessee Tech’s event.

“Our speaker tonight is addressing how women gained the right to vote with 19th amendment,” Dollar said. “And the role that Tennessee played in the passage and ratification of that amendment.”

The event’s speaker is Paula Casey, who has spent 30 years educating on women’s suffrage. In case someone misses tonight’s event, Dollar said the recording will be posted on TTU’s history page.
