TTU Graduate Named Chief Of TWRA’s Fisheries Division

A Tennessee Tech graduate will head TWRA’s Fisheries Division.

Mark Thurman has been named TWRA Fisheries Division Chief. Thurman has served as the Upper Cumberland Fisheries Program Manager for 12 years. Thurman will now be responsible with creating policies and managing fisheries programs across the state.

“We are excited to welcome Mark Thurman into this new role with the agency,” Jason Maxedon TWRA Executive Director said in a release. “His proven track record of leadership and commitment to the conservation and management of fish populations and habitats will make him an asset to the agency as chief of the Fisheries Division.”

Thurman has served TWRA in a variety of roles beginning as wildlife technician and then became a wildlife manger for eight years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in wildlife and fisheries science and a master’s in biology.
