The process to dismantle the Tucker Stadium scoreboard started Thursday.
Tennessee Tech Athletic Director Mark Wilson said it will culminate in the addition of a new, state-of-the-art videoboard in the facility.
Wilson said several years ago the university installed a videoboard at the Hooper Eblen Center to improve the fan experience.
“This has been a part of our long-term planning process to have a videoboard at Tucker Stadium as well for Tech football games along with hosting BlueCross bowl games,” Wilson said. “It’s just a great way to engage the fans at a higher level and show the great things that are happening on the field.”
The new videoboard expected to be installed before the start of the 2018 Tennessee Tech football season.
Tucker Stadium will be closed to the public while the project is going on.
“With them moving steel and lifting steel the stadium will be closed just so we keep everybody safe,” Wilson said.
Wilson said the project is about a $2.8 million project.
