Former President Donald Trump controlled the Putnam County vote in the Super Tuesday Primary, winning 81 percent of the Republican vote.
Just 16 percent of the county’s registered voters cast ballots. Trump finished with 5,674 votes. Nikki Haley garnered 16 percent of Tuesday’s vote. Six other candidates received votes in the Republican primary.
In early voting and absentee ballots counts, Trump received 79 percent of the early vote to Nikki Haley’s 18.1 percent. Ron DeSantis received 32 votes.
Joe Biden finished with 91 percent of the vote in the Democratic Primary with 6 percent uncommitted. A total of 987 Democrats cast ballots.
A total of 2,621 Putnam County residents voted early or with absentee ballots. That’s roughly 5 percent of the registered voters countywide.
