Authorities have charged a Trousdale County man in connection with a Hartsville homicide case.

The TBI Announced Thursday 23-year-old Benjamen Carter faces first-degree murder and attempted murder charges following the death of 21-year-old Bailey Donoho Sunday.

The incident occurred when Carter, Donoho, and a male acquaintance were in the same vehicle along Browning Branch Road.

An investigation revealed that at some point, Carter got out of the vehicle and fired shots at the vehicle, resulting in Donoho’s death. The male acquaintance escaped the vehicle and fled to a neighboring house before Carter drove away.

Carter was being held at the Trousdale County Jail on an unrelated charge when authorities handed down the new charges Wednesday. A bond has not been set at this time.
