Travel Writers Coming To Promote Crossville Thursday

Four groups of travel writers are set to visit Crossville Thursday and Friday to highlight the tourist attractions in the area.

The state coordinates these press visits to promote tourist hot spots. Crossville Chamber of Commerce President Ethan Hadley said the journalists involved have publications in major magazines like the “Smithsonian” and “Garden and Gun.”

“The travel writers will further spread awareness of our state parks, our golf, hiking and mountain biking,” Hadley said. “Any niche area that we excel in they can get the work out to a greater audience.”

Hadley said the writers will stay at Cumberland Mountain State Park on Thursday and spend Friday afternoon visiting the area. Hadley said he anticipates the articles will bring readers to visit the Upper Cumberland.

“I’ve been at this job for a year and a half now, and of course, we have had COVID during that time so I haven’t had that direct feedback. But I do get links to the articles that are written, and I know the avenues the publications are going out through,” Hadley said. “They have substantial reach, so I have every reason to believe that would influence readers’ opinions and desires to visit here.”

Hadley said partners from the state department of tourist development and the writers will also attend the chamber’s 60th anniversary being celebrated Thursday. Hadley said tourism is not held by county lines, so more than just Crossville will be explored.

This would mark the third group of writers coming to the area in the past year.
