Two tractor trailers collided this afternoon on northbound Highway 111 in Putnam County, causing one of the vehicles to burst into flames.
No injuries occurred in the crash that happened in front of the Super Truck Stop near the intersection of Highway 111 and Interstate 40.
Authorities said a the vehicles collided as one of the trucks slowed to turn into the truck stop. The Tennessee Highway Patrol has cited one of the drivers with following too closely and failing to exercise due care.
Cookeville Fire Chief Daryl Blair said crews have contained the fire.
The southbound lane is open and the northbound lane remains closed at this time.
