With the most important election in Cookeville’s recent past set to take place this August, News Talk 94.1 and the stations of Stonecom will present one of the last chances for voters to ask questions of the city council candidates.
Cookeville 2022: A Town Hall Forum will air Tuesday, July 26 from 5:30pm-7pm on News Talk 94.1/AM 1600, Lite Rock 95.9, Rock 93-7 and 96-9 Highway 111 Country. The event will also be live streamed.
The forum will feature all 11 candidates running for the open council seats. Following an opening statement, each candidate will spend the rest of the evening answering questions from a group of six citizens from the Cookeville community. Each has been chosen to represent a different sector of the electorate and will prepare his/her questions for the candidates.
The forum will also feature select questions from the audience via social media and email, taken both before and during the forum.
“With Cookeville’s growth, there are challenges and opportunities for our community,” Stonecom President Larry Stone said. “Add to that the current economic uncertainties and you have a very important election. We want to make sure residents have as much access as possible to where the candidates stand.”
The commercial-free forum will air live and is part of the stations’ continuing coverage of the August vote. Meet The Candidates continues on News Talk 94.1 and Lite Rock 95.9 leading up to election day, introducing candidates to voters all across the region.
On election night, the Upper Cumberland’s local news leader will provide live election coverage across all the Stonecom stations. The coverage will feature the first reaction from candidates and live returns from across the region.
