The National Weather Service confirmed Tuesday evening that an EF-1 tornado struck eastern Fentress County Friday night.
Meteorologist said the twister touched down in the Stockton area, carving a path three miles long and 150 yards wide. The NWS estimated maximum wind speeds to be 90mph.
The damage survey noted hundreds of trees that were snapped and uprooted around Stockton Road, Mt. Helen Road, Chestnut Ridge Road and Sam Smith Road.
Further to the South, damage in the Clarkrange area was determined to be caused by straight-line winds estimated up to 70 mph.
Fentress County EMA Director James Bilbrey reported Saturday that two funeral homes in Clarkrange suffered major damaged during the storm.
No injuries were reported.
