Monday, the General Assembly will begin a special session on education. Specifically, issues facing education as a result of COVID-19. One of those is reading – an estimated 50% drop in reading proficiency among Tennessee students since the beginning of the pandemic. But the problem goes much deeper than that. We look at reading and Tennessee’s young people with State Education Commissioner Dr. Penny Schwinn.
