TNGOP Passes Candidate Rule Change

Tennessee’s Republican Party just changed its rules regarding who can run as a party representative.

Based on the new rules, candidates must be active in the state or local Republican party. They also must have voted in three of the last four statewide Republican primaries. That rule can be bypassed if an elected Republican official “vouches” for the potential candidate.

State GOP Chairman Scott Golden said the changes make a consistent standard for candidates statewide.
