Van Buren County Mayor Greg Wilson said funding for the county’s new park comes from the state, the county and private entities.
“The majority of it is from the state, the county is responsible for some financial responsibility but also some in-kind contributions, which can be labor or monetary contributions from private entities or something of that nature,” Wilson said.
Last fall, Van Buren County received a TDEC grant for $440,000.
The city of Spencer has parks, but this will be the first county-owned park.
