THP Searching For Hit-And-Run Driver

The Tennessee Highway Patrol continues searching for a driver that fled the scene of a Smith County crash Monday afternoon.

The accident happened at the eastbound 265 mile marker of Interstate 40.

A THP report said 45-year-old David Blake suffered injuries when a collision caused his 2004 Chevrolet Silverado to leave the roadway, strike a guardrail, and roll several times after striking a rock embankment.

Blake, of Gainesboro, received treatment at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

According to witnesses, a black pickup truck was traveling aggressively at a high rate of speed and struck Blake’s vehicle as he attempted to merge into the right lane.

The crash report said the driver of the pickup failed to stop and continued eastbound on Interstate 40.
