THP Investigating Incident Involving Overton Child

Tennessee Highway Patrol officials are investigating an incident in which a two-year-old boy was possibly struck by an Overton County Sheriff Deputy’s vehicle.

In a statement released by the THP, CIRT Troopers are conducting interviews and processing the scene in which the incident took place.

“Our goal at this point is is evidence collection and to process the scene,” the statement said.

The incident took place Friday. The boy is now home recovering after receiving stitches to his head.

According to the THP, the investigation is still ongoing as they look to “be thorough and complete,” and that more information will be released once it becomes available. Information will be sent to the district attorney’s office once the investigation is completed.
