The Tennessee Highway Patrol launched its sixth-annual ‘I-40 Challenge’ Wednesday to increase its presence during the Thanksgiving holiday.
In a release, the THP says a trooper will be located every 20 miles along the interstate to monitor traffic during one of the busiest travel times of the year.
The THP arrested nearly 30 people for impaired driving and issued over 450 seat belt citations during last year’s Thanksgiving patrol.
The I-40 Challenge spans the entire corridor stretching from California to North Carolina and will continue through Monday morning.
