The Tennessee Highway Patrol will be increasing enforcement efforts over Super Bowl weekend.
Lieutenant Jmmy Neal is urging folks to make smart decisions before driving and to avoid distracted driving.
“We just want people to please wear those seat belts and don’t drive distracted,” Neal said. “Pay attention to what’s going on around you. You never know when the guy beside you is going to be nodding off or distracted.”
According to the Tennessee’s Integrated Traffic Analysis Network, there were 71 crashes and four fatalities statewide related to alcohol-impaired driving during Super Bowl weekend last year. In 2016, there were 67 crashes and two fatalities.
