THP: Eclipse Safety Is First Goal

The THP hopes visitors and residents will practice awareness for next Monday’s eclipse.

Capt. R.C. Christian said safety is the first goal.

“Our primary goal that day is just going to see that no one does get injured and that we don’t have any crashes pertaining to that, but you know as informed as the public is about the eclipse we’d hope that’s something folks would already be planning for,” Christian said.

Law enforcement will be out in force that day, making sure it goes smoothly, Christian said.

“The main thing I want everyone to be careful and be mindful of their surroundings, that’s another critical thing,”

An unknown number of visitors will be in the area over the weekend. Hotel rooms and campsites have been sold out for weeks.
