This Week White Commissioners Consider Bonus And Raises, Monterey Special Called Meeting

This week in the Upper Cumberland White County Commissioners will consider a COVID bonus and a five percent raise for general county employees and the highway department.

Under the plan, full time employees would receive a $3,000 bonus, part time workers $1,500. The COVID bonuses would be prorated over 15 months beginning January 1, 2021.

If approved by the commission, the raise would go into effect June 30. The commission will meet at 6:00 p.m. Monday.

The Putnam County Commission will consider pay increases for election workers Monday night. Workers currently make about $90 to $100 per day worked.

Some 19 acres at the Highlands Business Park could be sold by the commission. Members will consider a $22,500 per acre price for a business development.

Monterey officials will also attend the meeting. They will introduce a proposal to partner with Putnam County to purchase a sludge remover through ARP funding. The meeting begins at 6:00 p.m.

The Pickett County Commission will also hear a proposal from Byrdstown Monday night. The town seeks TDEC infrastructure money to replace its sewer basin. Business starts at 6:00 p.m.

The Fentress County Commission meets 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

The Overton County School Board will meet Monday at 6:30 p.m. The Board of Education usually convenes on Tuesday, but Director of Schools Donnie Holman could not attend causing the reschedule.

A special called meeting in Monterey has been called for Monday at 7:00 p.m. Aldermen will discuss interim options for mayor and the city attorney position.

Thursday, Jackson County Schools meets 6:00 p.m. at Central Office.
