This Week: Putnam Commission Supports Rail Trail, Fentress Road Funding Request

This week in the Upper Cumberland the Putnam Commission will consider a resolution from committee that supports the expansion of the Tennessee Central Rail Trail.

Starting at 5:30 Monday, the Planning Committee will recommend the approval as well as changes to the county personnel policy. Director of Schools Corby King is also expected to present an expansion project of the student services building at Cookeville High School.

King has said in a previous school board meeting that it would add office space, an additional bathroom and storage room. The meeting will be held in the courthouse chambers.

The Fentress County Commission will meet Monday at 6:00 p.m. at the county courthouse. Road Supervisor Joey Reagan said he plans to request for a $1.5 million capital outlay note for road improvements.

The White County Commission will consider a resolution from its Financial Management Committee Monday. The item consists of a $800,000 capital outlay note to fund public works projects such as paving. Business begins at 6:00 at the courthouse.

The Pickett County and Jackson County Commission also meet Monday night.

Wednesday, the Executive Committees for UCHRA and UCDD will begin its quarterly meeting at 10:00 a.m. Mayors from across the Upper Cumberland make up the board and will hear from Van Buren County Head Start.

The program structure and transportation plans for the next year will be reviewed as well as multiple contract renewals with the Van Buren School System.

Community Services Director LaNelle Godsey will also present a community needs assessment and plan of action.

Thursday, the Jackson County School Board will meet at 6:00 p.m. at Central Office.
