This Week Putnam Commission Discusses Joint Water Project

This week in the Upper Cumberland the Putnam County Commission will consider a joint water project with Jackson County Tuesday.

Both counties will use allocations of TDEC’s COVID money to fund the project. The goal is to provide public water to residents in the Martin Creek area.

Commissioners will also consider applying for a $450,000 health grant. The county wants to renovate the playground equipment and sports complex at Jere Whitson Park.

The meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. at the Cookeville Community Center.

The Cumberland County Commission will consider a resolution to to possibly create a Cumberland Plateau Water Authority. The county will appeal to the General Assembly to establish a private act to establish the utility group.

Commissioners will also consider two delinquent tax lot agreements with Lake Tansi Village and Lake Park. The commission gathers at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Fentress County Commissioners will consider a proposed joint effort to upgrade radio communications. The county, E-911 and the board of education all considering funding purchases to improve radio equipment used by all parties.

The commission will also consider a resolution to accept a donation to build a new parking lot at the stand-alone emergency room. The meeting begin Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.

Thursday, the Putnam County Emergency Communications District will meet at 11:00 a.m. at County Services Drive.

The Jackson County School Board will get a school director’s report on ongoing COVID money projects. The board will also consider the summer school calendar. Members gathers at central office Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
