This Week Overton Commission Considers Body Cam Purchase, Celina Talks Splash Pad

This week in the Upper Cumberland the Overton County Commission will consider a grant application for child care facility improvements.

The new Child Care Community Development Block Grant is available to all 14 Upper Cumberland Counties. Some $1 million could be awarded for improvement projects.

Commissioners will also consider purchasing new body cameras for the Sheriff’s Office. Lane Oak Road could also become a county road pending approval. The meeting begins at 5:00 p.m. Monday.

The Byrdstown Board of Aldermen meets at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Baxter Board of Aldermen meets at 6:00 p.m. Monday.

The Jackson County Commission will discuss employee benefit through an insurance provider. Commissioners gather at 7:00 p.m. Monday.

Tuesday, Celina Aldermen will discuss possible locations for a new splash pad. The board will also discuss further action on its ambulance service contract proposal for the county to consider.

The meeting takes place at 5:30 p.m.

The Algood City Council will consider its first reading for the new fiscal year budget. The proposed city property tax is $0.3693 per $100. The council convenes at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday.

The Crossville City Council will continue budget discussion Tuesday regarding fire truck repairs. A 2018 fire truck was completely fried after touching a power line and needs to be transported for evaluation. The meeting begins at 6:00 p.m.

The Overton County Board of Education meets Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. with a work session to follow.

Thursday, the White County School Board meets at 6:00 p.m. The Clay County Board of Education also meets at 6:00 p.m.
