This Week Livingston Aldermen Discuss Police Chief Position, Crossville City Manager Search Begins

This week in the Upper Cumberland the Putnam County Commission will continue discussion over the Park View School.

The School Board and County Commission recently met in joint session exploring options to build the 5th-8th grade wing of the school. Originally a K-8 school, but limited funding caused the school board to move forward with just the K-4 section.

The commission will meet Monday with this as an agenda item. Business starts at 6:00 p.m.

The Cumberland County Commission will appoint a county building maintenance supervisor Monday. The meeting begin at 6:00 p.m.

White County could have a new Parks and Recreation master plan adopted Monday night. Commissioners will consider final approval after hearing a presentation over the plan last month. That meeting takes place at the White County Courthouse at 6:00 p.m.

Two other County Commission meet Monday night all at 6:00 p.m. Pickett County and Fentress County will have its regular scheduled meetings.

Tuesday, the process for a new Crossville City Manager begins. The city council has scheduled a special called meeting at 1:30 p.m. after City Manager Greg Wood submitted a letter of resignation. The council will negotiate Wood’s compensation and begin the search for a new city manager.

In Livingston, MTAS will report to the Board of Aldermen to layout the process of hiring a new police chief. Former Chief Greg Etheregde resigned after a missing money investigation. Captain Ray Smith took over as the interim. The meeting will be Tuesday at 5:00 p.m.

The election results of Putnam County will be certified Wednesday. Commissioners will start that process at 8:30 a.m.

Thursday, the Cookeville City Council meets at 5:30 p.m. Laurin Wheaton expected to take over as mayor after receiving the most votes for city council.
