Tennessee Tech inducted its class of 2025 at the University Convocation this afternoon.
President Phil Oldham said that in being at convocation, Tech’s newest students have shown exactly what the world needs.
“And that’s talent, coupled with tenacity,” Oldham said. “Today you join thousands of golden eagles who have that same resilience and from this moment, you will be known as bold, fearless, confident, and kind. It’s our job to help you grow in all those areas to help you soar into your futures.”
Oldham said that as a parent of a Tech student himself, he also thanked the parents of the incoming freshman.
“It’s personal for me and my wife Kari as well,” Oldham said. “And we put all students first when we make decisions here at Tennesse Tech. I appreciate you trusting us with your students. ”
News and Communications Director Joe Fisher said that the students were now a class of the number one public university in the state of Tennessee.
“Today, you officially start living ‘Wings Up,'” Fisher said. “That means you will get the best return on your investment of any public university in the state. Almost half of you will leave with no debt at all, and when you graduate you can expect to earn the highest early-career salaries of any graduates in Tennessee. That’s a great deal.”
Tech has its first day of classes this Thursday, August 19th.
