Based on Best Value Colleges and Starting Salary studies for 2021 Tech has been named the top public university by SmartAsset.
Tech has held the top public Starting Salary spot since 2015 and is second to Vanderbilt when it comes to both private and public universities in Tennessee. Tech received the top spot in the Best Value Colleges ranking based on low cost, high retention rate and high starting salary.
Tennessee Tech President Phil Oldham said in a written statement that, “At Tech, we are focused on student success,” said Oldham. “We provide a quality education at a lower cost than most schools. We work to produce graduates who are ready to make positive contributions to their employers and communities.”
SmartAsset who put together these rankings uses data from sources that include the U.S. Department of Education and Payscale to calculate annual rankings. Five factors are assessed including: tuition, student living costs, scholarship and grant offerings student retention rate and starting salary for new graduates.
