Football season may be the natural introduction to fall sports, but Tennessee Tech’s season is already underway.
The Golden Eagles soccer team is four matches into their season, with Volleyball is close behind. Golden Eagles football season kicks off Thursday night at Furman. TTU Athletics Director Mark Wilson said he is looking forward as the fall sports season continues.
“I always have a lot of euphoria as everyone does at the start of the academic year, the start of a new fall season,” Athletic Director Mark Wilson said. “Its just exciting for all our teams to be back on campus, in action, and really looking forward to a great year.”
Last year, the Golden Eagles football team finished second in the Ohio Valley Conference.The Golden Eagles soccer team are the defending Ohio Valley Conference season champions. Wilson said he is excited for what the season holds for the soccer team.
“We’re picked to finish first this year, Wilson said. “We love having that target on us. We are looking forward to defending our OVC Championship when conference play starts.”
The Golden Eagle volleyball squad will be hosting a volleyball tournament this weekend. The Golden Eagles first home football game is on September 16. Wilson said that he is looking forward to all the big home crowds this season.
“The home field or home court advantage is tremendous and our student athletes love playing in front of a home crowd,” Wilson said. “Big crowds give them additional energy and additional excitement.”
