Tennessee Tech Becomes The 75th Bee Campus USA In The Nation

Tennessee Tech University has become the 75th educational institution to be certified as a Bee Campus USA affiliate.

University Sustainability Manager DeLayne Miller said Tech received the designation for efforts in supporting pollinators. She cites three relatively new gardens on campus that include native and flowering plants.

The new gardens include, the Native Plant Garden behind Pennebaker Hall, the Tech Village Garden, and a pollinator garden located on the side of campus close to the athletic performance center.

Miller said Tech also offers courses on pollinators and has a committee that maintains a pollinator habitat plan.

The university joins more than 150 other cities and campuses across the country united in improving its landscapes for pollinators.
