Tennessee Tech has awarded the highest student honor, the Derryberry Award, to recent graduate Rachel Baker of Holladay, Tennessee.
Baker was given the Derryberry Award because of her commitment to her involvement with the University. She was involved several student organizations, logged hundreds of service hours, and maintained a good GPA in one of the university’s most rigorous chemistry concentrations.
Baker received her degree in chemistry with a concentration in pure chemistry along with minors in environmental studies, agriculture and honors, and is the first chemistry student to receive the prestigious award.
Post graduation, Baker plans to remain in the field of chemistry as a research and development chemist.
