The Tennessee Mini Pullers will be holding several garden tractor pulls starting in 2024.
One pull already scheduled is April 12 and 13 in Livingston at the Overton County Fairgrounds. That event will be a charity event for Shriners Children’s Hospital. The event is close to Tennessee Mini Pullers owner Dale Hargis’ heart. His son receives treatments there.
“The best thing about them is they got the best doctors in the country, but the only money they have is donations,” Hargis said. “So, that’s why we kind of sit this pool aside for what they’ve done for myself and my son.”
Hargis said he held the event last year and over 300 lawn mowers showed up to the pull, raising around $14,000. He said it looks like this year is going to be even bigger.
“We had a one-day pull this past year,” Hargis said. “I expected you know a four or five hour show, and it turned into starting at 11 o’clock and rained us out about 2am Sunday morning.”
Hargis said the different classes of pulls range from stock mowers to souped-up hot-rod mowers. He said he hopes to hold the event year after year.
“It’s one of the things that I want to do as long as I can, and I hope that my son picks it up and carries it on for his little brother,” Hargis said.
Shriners Children’s Hospital is a non-profit medical facility that treats a variety of medical issues regardless of a patient’s ability to pay. Hargis said he is proud to be able to help Shriners Children’s Hospital with his mini pulls.
“The best feeling you can have,” Hargis said. “Just knowing that something you love doing on that level will be able to help kids and children from all over the country that need it that probably couldn’t get the treatment otherwise.”
