Teen Challenge Wants To Build New Multi-Purpose Facility

Teen Challenge Of The Upper Cumberland wants to improve its ability to serve women dealing with drug addiction.

Executive Director Tim McLauchlin said a new cafeteria and multi-purpose facility would increase the center’s ability.

“Having 26 students now on campus, those students have family members that want to come visit them,” McLauchlin said. “Now, we’ve just got to have the space to be able to have those families when they come, space where they can visit with their loved ones.”

McLauchlin said the space under one roof would help families, who can visit once per month, understand the changes and challenges loved ones face.

Teen Challenge opened a brand new 16-bed facility last week. Students will begin moving in that facility this week. The additional beds more than doubled the Teen Challenge capacity.

But McLauchlin said the need keeps growing. Teen Challenge currently has a waiting list as court partners in 13 counties use the organization to help women.
