Teen Challenge Of The Upper Cumberland will more than double its ability to help Thursday.
The organization will hold a ribbon-cutting for its new 16-bed women’s facility at the Livingston campus. Teen Challenge broke ground on the 3,800 square foot facility last March.
“We can hold 11 ladies in our current building and we’ve been full for two and a half years,” Teen Challenge Executive Director Tim McLauchlin said. “As soon as one graduates, another one moves in.”
“To reach this milestone is huge.”
Teen Challenge, which serves women trying to recover from drug addiction, purchased 45 acres of land in Livingston in 2012. McLauchlin said the community has supported the project in so many ways.
“The need is huge and we’ve got a waiting list,” McLauchlin said. “We work with the court system in about 13 different counties around middle Tennessee. We’re always getting letters from inmates wanting help. It will be a huge blessing.”
The public can tour the facility located at 200 Freedom Lane in Livingston Thursday from 11am-2pm. Women will begin moving in next week.
If you wish to help with the project, you can attend the Teen Challenge Dessert Banquet Harvest Of Hope, Tuesday night at the Leslie Town Center. Tickets remain for the event by calling
