Putnam County students get a two week head start on applications at Tennessee Tech starting Thursday.
Director of Admissions Frank Tittle said Putnam First offers local students a two-week buffer to ask questions to admissions, their advisor, or the college they are applying to. Tittle said this gives Putnam students a period of undivided attention and access to resources.
“Our goal it to get our students graduated debt-free,” Tittle said. “About 49% of our students graduate debt free on a yearly basis. So the quicker we can get them admitted the quicker we can get scholarship opportunities in front of those students as well.”
Tittle said that being in Cookeville and Putnam County, Tennessee Tech wants to make sure the students in this region know how important they are to Tech, so they want to roll out that extra red carpet for the area students.
Tittle said a postcard has already been sent by the Office of Communications to explain access to the website for early application. He said admissions has also sent an email to tell Putnam students that they are important and to be on the lookout for the early application mailer.
“All students or parents who are interested, come give us a visit,” Tittle said. “We do have an opportunity for students to have a VIP visit of campus.”
