Tennessee Tech is making a social media push to label Cookeville as Tennessee’s college town.
Communications and Marketing Office Intern Morgan Lee said that she and a group of students were hired to create a video series highlighting their favorite things to do. Lee said over two days the group narrowed down what diverse activities they want to show off.
“We’re highlighting things from state parks and water activities and all those outdoor activities that everyone loves to do,” Lee said. “We’re also highlighting music, nightlife, what to do on the weekend. We’ve highlighted the murals and we’re highlighting art.”
Lee said the group has a unique passion for this project with six members being from areas outside Putnam County and Cookeville. She said the videos will be available across all of Tech’s social media platforms and YouTube.
“There should be around three more videos coming out over the next few weeks,” Lee said. “We’re looking at exploring other ideas of things we can do but right now the atmosphere and energy at Tennessee Tech right now is that Cookeville is Tennessee’s college town.”
Lee said she is from Livingston, three other members are from Sparta and two members are from Knoxville. She said the goal is to take prospective students along with them to see how Cookeville makes for an ideal college lifestyle.
