Tennessee Tech is in the final stretch of fall enrollment as some students are still enrolling and signing up for classes just weeks before the fall semester begins.
Vice President of Enrollment and Communication Karen Lykins said some students who enroll late because time slips away or they are on the fence of where they want to go to school. Lykins said students who have not enrolled yet will still be taken care of.
“All of our in person orientations for first time freshman have been completed but that’s okay,” Lykins said. “If you’ve made a late decision we can make sure you get your orientation information online, but all classes are still open and ready to receive students.”
Tech will be taking applications throughout the month of August. Lykins said she has seen more late enrollment this year due to the nationwide issue with FAFSA delaying financial aid.
“The FAFSA delays caused people to be behind and may not have given them enough information about what it was gonna cost or what their aid would look like going to college,” Lykins said. “So because of that there are several families who are just now deciding.”
Lykins said the school is still receiving several applications each day. Lykins said the school looks at late enrollment as a positive thing.
“It impacts Tennessee Tech in a wonderful way,” Lykins said. “We are always ready and able to help any student at any point in the process.”
Lykins students who enroll late will not be at a disadvantage in the classroom but they may have limited options for on campus housing. Classes begin August 22.
