Tech To Honor Five Alumni April 13

Tech alumni Walter Derryberry, Dick Murphy, Ottis Phillips, John Rose, and Scott Stallings will be honored by the University April 13th.

The five will receive Tennessee Tech Alumni Association Awards as part of Alumni Weekend 2018, the association announced Thursday.

Derryberry, a retired physician, will receive the Distinguished Alumnus Award. Retired businessman Murphy will receive the Outstanding Service Award. Phillips and Rose, both members of the Tennessee Tech Foundation Board of Directors, will be recognized with the Outstanding Philanthropy Awards. Professional golfer Stallings will receive the Outstanding Young Alumnus Award.

“This is the most important event of the year for the Alumni Association,” Crawford Alumni Center Director Brandon Boyd said. “It’s exciting to honor these individuals who are representing their alma mater so well.”

More than 200 alumni have been recognized since the program began in 1975. For the first tie in 2018, the honors will be awarded in four categories.

The Alumni Association Awards banquet will take place Friday, April 13 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Leslie Town Center.
