A Tennessee Tech graduate has been honored with TVA’s highest engineering honor for his work on electric grid responsiveness.
Tim Fritch has served TVA for some 19 years, currently as a Transmission and Power Supply Engineer. Fritch is now eligible for the Federal Engineer of the Year Award as one of ten finalists.
“Tim’s innovative approach and leadership not only help ensure a stable power grid from oscillations, but also gives our region a competitive advantage as we generate electricity to power the region’s growing economy, while keeping TVA’s power rates among the lowest in the nation,” TVA Senior Vice President Aaron Melda said in a release.
Fritch is a 2004 graduate of Tech. He serves on the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering’s Advisory board.
The Ike Zeringue Engineer of the Year award is named for a former TVA president, chief operating officer, and chief nuclear officer.
